News & Events
Picture the scene: you’ve moved into your swanky new apartment at The Stage in oh-so-trendy Shoreditch, you’ve missed your alarm and you’re now running late to the office in Canary Wharf for your 9am Thursday morning meeting. No time for coffee, no time for your breakfast bagel – not a great start to the day. Well, maybe that could have been the reality before the introduction of the super-convenient, brand-spanking-new train line, the Elizabeth line (aka Crossrail).
Crossrail at Liverpool Street
As one of London’s busiest underground stations, Liverpool Street provides passengers with access to the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan lines and, more recently, the Elizabeth line. London Overground and National Rail services also run to and from Liverpool Street station, offering access to the rest of London and across the South East.
The introduction of the Elizabeth line at this prominent station improves journey times to some of London’s key destinations.
Liverpool Street to Tottenham Court Road | 5 minutes (previously 8 minutes) |
Liverpool Street to Stratford | 7 minutes (previously 9 minutes) |
Liverpool Street to Canary Wharf | 7 minutes (previously 23 minutes) |
Liverpool Street to Paddington | 11 minutes (previously 18 minutes) |
Liverpool Street to Ealing Broadway | 19 minutes (previously 36 minutes) |
Liverpool Street to Heathrow T5 | 49 minutes (previously 62 minutes) |
With trains running every five minutes, and services expected to run every two and a half minutes once the service is in full operation, getting to the office for that 9am meeting might not be as unachievable as first thought.
Explore the Elizabeth Line
So, you made it to your morning meeting with time to spare, grabbed that well-deserved coffee and breakfast bagel, and suddenly it’s 5pm and your work day is over. Now what? Well, the possibilities are endless.
It’s no secret that there are thousands of places to eat, drink and party after work in London and fortunately, with the introduction of the Elizabeth line, you can get to those after work drinks even quicker than before!
An Evening in Soho
Head to Tottenham Court Road station to soak up the wonders of Soho and enjoy some late evening summer sun and al fresco dining at Quo Vadis – one of Dean Street’s oldest establishments – or a cocktail or two at The Roof Terrace at the Ham Yard Hotel. Head onto 100 Wardour St to dance the night away before catching the last train home.
Alternatively, catch a show in the West End and then head for a late-night post-theatre meal at the bustling Brasserie Zédel. Dine on some traditional French cuisine in an authentic Parisian art-deco-themed setting.
Head to Heathrow
If you’d rather skip the after-work fun and head straight for a sunny getaway, Heathrow will be easily accessible via the Elizabeth line once it is fully operational. Until then, a quick change at Paddington station will soon have you on your way to a city break or a sandy beach in no time.
From Liverpool Street station, catch the Elizabeth line to Paddington station and change trains to get to Heathrow Terminal 5 in just 32 minutes using the Heathrow Express.
Bargain-Hunting on Brick Lane
Brick Lane is an East London institution loved by all who pass through it. From wacky vintage finds and handmade crafts to vinyl records and street food markets, this melting pot of culture is a sight to behold.
